Using Numerology to Discover Your Life Purpose

"If you don't like what you're doing, then don't do it." ~Ray Bradbury

This month we will look at the use of Numerology in living authentically, as we develop, discover and live our true Life Purpose. I believe that we all are constantly seeking to live out our life purpose, even if we do not yet know what it is. Each of us may feel called, in some small way, to bring meaning, value, heart, vitality, and zest, into our lives. Understanding your purpose can help you to achieve this.

Your Life Purpose is best described in Numerology through the Life Path. The Life Path is about finding your place in the world. This number represents the native traits that you are born with. It also represents the trends and tendencies of your life and your work. The Life Path gives you the clue to your inner characteristics, vocational abilities, and possibilities. Keep in mind that the Life Path requires real, honest work on your part. It is not about putting your head in the sand, but rather living up to your potential.

Many people may find that they do not yet have a clear life purpose. Studying your Life Path can help you to focus, and listen to your inner dreams. You can calculate it by adding together the numbers in your birthday. The Life Path can help to pull together the different pieces of your life. Your purpose can slowly be revealed as you start to see the connections, and patterns in your life.

One person that I believe is living authentically is Lance Armstrong. I’d like to examine his Life Path, and life, so that you can see that he is living his life purpose, and helping others to do the same.

Lance Armstrong

September 18, 1971

9 + 18 + (1 + 9 + 7 + 1)

27 + 18 = 45

4 + 5 = 9

Life Path #9

From a young age, Lance maintains that he was "born to race bikes." However, his pursuit of bike racing was not without struggle. He almost didn’t get the chance to graduate with his high school class, because of his racing/training schedule.

Determined and dedicated, Lance stuck with racing. By 1996 he was the number one ranked cyclist in the world. However, in 1996 Lance found out that he had testicular cancer. It had spread to his lungs and brain. To this day Lance regards cancer as "a special wake-up call.". His ordeal was difficult, but with a great deal of research, and help from his doctors, family and friends he made it through.

In May of 1998 Lance celebrated his return to U.S. cycling by winning the Sprint 56K Criterium in Austin, Texas. Today Lance is considered to be a charismatic, zealous, passionate and fearless competitor and cyclist.

While under treatment for cancer, Lance created the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which exists to help people manage and survive cancer.

Now Lance says, "It's ironic, I used to ride my bike to make a living. Now I just want to live so that I can ride."

I believe that like Lance, we all must find ways to nurture, and fuel the flames of our passion. It might not be easy, and we may experience obstacles, but it can be worthwhile in the long run. Living authentically, and finding your purpose, requires that you get your hands dirty, and do your own work. You can ask others for help, but ultimately you must be willing to complete the tasks that need doing.

If Lance had simply relied on the care of one doctor and not done his research, he might not be alive today. He had to be willing to dig in, learn, and grow from his experience. He also had to be willing to ask for help. His Life Path is about being dedicated, persistent, and hard working. The 9 Life Path also has strong spiritual tendencies, which almost definitely helped him to stay the course and do what he needed to do to heal and recover.

Now, Lance is trying to help others survive cancer. This is represented by the very core of the 9 Life Path. Lance is indeed someone who wants to help others, and he has gone the extra mile to do it.

Understanding your Life Purpose is a process of finding out who you are. It involves doing what you love, no matter the difficulties. It involves being who you are and not the person others have dictated. It's your choice. You can bring your purpose into your present and your future.

Part of living authentically and purposefully is understanding that we will have fears and doubts, and living with them. As you learn more about yourself you can get a better handle on the things that trigger your personal fears. By reading about inspirational people, like Lance, you can find ways that they have stepped through their fears and utilize their techniques in your life. We all have the ability to achieve our dreams and reach our goals. Don’t let your insecurities hold you back.

As you develop and step into your purpose, the qualities, skills, and abilities that you develop through the process can spill out and overflow into your life. You will discover that you can use your growing abilities to succeed in life, and help others to do the same.

Good Luck on your journey in Soulful Living and Numerology.
