Numerology and Romance

"You cultivate the flower in yourself, so that I will be beautiful.
I transform the garbage in myself, so that you will not have to suffer.”
--Thich Nhat Hanh

This month we will look at the role of Numerology and Soulful Rituals for Love and Romance. We will be looking at this from the perspective of a formed couple. We will explain ways in which we can utilize the couple’s Core Numbers to develop a stronger connection. Hopefully, as they develop more intimate bonds through ritual work they can also develop and increase self-confidence and individuality. Incidentally, you can view a powerful example of ritual on one of the current reality TV dating shows, which has a rose ceremony.

To develop your own ritual you don’t need to do anything complex or confusing. You only need to set aside a regular time to be alone together. This means that there aren’t any ringing phones or any immediate crisis to solve. Your time together should be in a comfortable, safe and private place. You might like to light a few candles, listen to music, or have a quiet dinner together. Beyond this, I feel that it is imperative that each person utilizes a regular self improvement support system, such as a group meeting, life purpose coaching, or therapy to provide outside support. Outside assistance can help you to more fully develop a soulful living experience together. These outside support systems help you to solve issues, find balance, and can help to remind you about honor, respect, forgiveness, passion and compassion.

When developing your personal ritual, I recommend developing it around an open discussion of your Numerological Chart and Core Numbers. The outcome of your discussions can help you to know each other on new levels. You will also be helping one another through difficulties by bringing to light things which otherwise might not be shared. Since Numerology can highlight your desires, strengths and weaknesses, then why not focus your discussions on personal improvement, growth and striving toward your passions and dreams? Of your Core Numbers, your Soul Number and Life Path Number (Inner Numbers) both highly illustrate your passions.

Self improvement--moving forward and being conscious of your dreams-- is important in any relationship. However, being aware of your inner desires and needs becomes even more critical when you have children. Carl Jung believed that “Children are driven unconsciously in a direction that is intended to compensate for everything that was left unfulfilled in the lives of their parents.” If you have children, or plan on having them, your ritual and the work evolving from it becomes even more important. The ritual that you develop, and the discussions that hopefully follow, may remind you of long since forgotten dreams and passions. Perhaps, now you can find a way to act on them.

Finding, keeping, and having passion makes the difference between having a rewarding life or not. What is your passion? People who know their passion feel it deep driving urge inside of themselves. How about you? True passion could be an urge to create or do something like painting, singing, learning or dancing. Or, passion could be a deep love for something like art, movies, music, or reading. Recently, I saw a commercial where a man finds a bottle on a beach. Of course he rubs it, and a genie appears. He immediately asks the genie for a car and then zooms off, without asking for the other 2 wishes. He is so excited and caught up in the passion of having the car. Your passion can be like that!

Being aware of your dreams, desires and passions is only half the work. Now, it will be up to you to honestly talk about them with your mate. Your Inner numbers can be key guideposts as to where to start talking, as they signify many of the inner urges that drive and motivate you. You can choose to cover certain topics, or just use your Numerology Charts to open up conversation. It is important to not to bring intolerance, blame or fault into the conversation. Generally, your attitudes toward tolerance, family life and acceptance are highlighted by your Personality and Destiny Numbers.

Your process here should be about constructive talk on how each of you can help to strengthen the relationship. For instance, while looking at your partner's Soul Number, one of the first questions you might want to ask is: “What holds you back from achieving your passion?” or “What do you want in your life?” Now if you are married, you may think you know the answers. But, there is no harm in asking. Maybe you will learn something new, and the goal here is to find ways to help your partner grow, achieve, and become stronger by helping him\her to actively pursue interests.

Your work may help to uncover things that you both don’t know yet. Be aware of pitfalls that derail real and honest conversation. Your Maturity Number shows some of your potential strengths and weaknesses as you mature in life. Some of us may never fully utilize its full power. It can help you to both be vigilant of potential hazards in your relationship. For instance, if you both have a Maturity Number 8, then money may be a big issue in your relationship and you can center your talks on that issue.

A ritual combined with healthy discussions utilized on a regular basis can help to build your relationship into a true shared path. Together, you can lay the groundwork for a strong and vital union while working on ways that you can both celebrate love and life while you each pursue your dreams and solve inner struggles. Indeed, author Thomas Moore stresses that “…your soul work must involve family, friends, neighborhood, work and community. Soul is about quality of depth with focus on the particulars of life. Being connected to other people is what gives us our sense of self." Also, don’t forget the words of Thich Nhat Hanh.

Good luck in your journey into Soulful Living and Numerology!
