Love, The Bringer of Peace
by Chrissie Blaze |
What Love Is
Love is the secret elixir of life. This truth is engraved on the Sphinx, it is in the caves of the Anchorites near Mount Sinai, and on the great rock near Deir, Petraea, we are told: "The Torch of life is fed by the oil of Love." In I Corinthians
13:1-13 we hear: "So faith, hope, love remain, these three; But the greatest of these is love."
It is the elixir, the oil, the spiritual energy to bring lasting peace on earth. In the mystic text, "The Nine Freedoms[1]", we learn many things about this mysterious, alchemical power. We learn that
love is an aspect of the initial Creative Force. It was out of love, therefore, that the earth, the sun, the stars, indeed...the entire solar system and beyond, was created. It is boundless, limitless and inexhaustible. It is the fuel of our most ardent spiritual desires, and
the desire itself.
But how do we recognize love? Is it the touch of a mother's hand on her child's fevered brow? Yes, indeed. Is it the feeling we have when we see our beloved across the room. Yes. Is it the warm glow we feel when we offer our seat to the frail, elderly
lady? Yes, it is. It is all these things, and much more. All these are glimpses of love. All these are small aspects of this one great, all-pervasive, all-permeating energy of the universe. For love is not just about feeling or emotion. It is an energy that holds
manifestation in place and is the force of preservation throughout existence.
Love's Octaves
We learn that love has eight octaves of manifestation, ranging from basic sentimentality and emotionalism, right up to compassion for all. The Greeks divided love up into four types, which they called: Philios, Storge, Eros and
the highest, Agape; that mystical force that held in place the other three for eternity.
Philios is human and selfish in nature, stemming as it does from our innate desire to love and be loved. Storge is a more maternal type of love; solid and instinctual and, like Philios, must be rewarded to keep on loving. Then there is
Eros, another human type of love, and one that is most often abused and misused. Hollywood thrives on romantic Eros, and every other singer sings about. It is selfish and needs gratification. According to the Greeks all these three loves are human in nature and do
not need God to exist. Because of this, they are temporal, fickle and impermanent, though at times, beautiful. However, there is hope. The great mystical force of Agape is God's Love, which can bond the others together and hold them strong.
Agape is the quality of love of all the great Spiritual Masters, Avatars and Saints. The Master Jesus was the Avatar of Love; The Lord Buddha, Sri Krishna, Mahatma Gandhi and others came to grace our world and change it forever through their compassionate works and
their great fathomless, unquenchable love for humanity. It is this higher aspect of love that inspires the poets and visionaries and changes the world for the better. It is this love that is the fuel for our ardent prayers for peace and healing of others.
It is this quality of love that we need in our world today. Not our emotionalism, or cloying sentimentality, or aching desire to be liked. It is the pure compassionate drive to embrace and inspire all that is the mystic elixir that will save us. It is
this irresistible force of love that can stop wars, heal the sick and bring light into the darkest corners of our planet, and into the hearts and lives of all humanity. Let us join together and support all those people who are promoting love and spirituality through their
teachings, lectures, books and websites, whose purpose is the enhancing of life through love and wisdom.
The great news about love in even its higher aspects is that we all have access to it. Now is the time for us all to use it. One of the best ways we can gain access to that mysterious energy resident within our hearts is through intentional prayer. This type of prayer has
many names; simply, it is that selfless prayer which wells up from a deep place within us when we hear of a tragedy or disaster affecting other people - whether they are friends or strangers makes no difference. It is that automatic response of our souls; and prayer is the
answer.
My Spiritual Master, Dr. George King, taught "Prayer is a song of the soul and the soul wants to sing."
Solving the Spiritual Energy Crisis
Just as love is the healing energy; prayer is the tool that can hone this power into an alchemical force, to inspire and heal. We can draw upon this vast universal field of God's energy in which we live[2]; mix it with the elixir of love, and use the
results to transform our personal and global world. The energy of love is infinite and, with so much talk of energy shortages, we learn there need never be a shortage of energy.
Dr. George King, Founder of The Aetherius Society[3], which I have been a member of for over three decades, said in the early 1970s that the real energy crisis on Earth was not the shortage of oil or natural resources, but the Spiritual Energy Crisis
- or the shortage of love. There is enough to go around; but selfishness and greed is the main problem. Once this problem is solved then so too will all the other so-called energy shortages. He spent his life addressing what this Spiritual Energy Crisis through devising
global missions of love and healing.[4]
The Quantum Physicists too have found an inexhaustible energy supply. In the words of bestselling author, Lynne McTaggart, " Zero point field…. is a vast inexhaustible energy source all sitting there unobtrusively in the background of the empty space
around us, like one all-pervasive, supercharged backdrop. To give you some idea of the magnitude of that power, the energy in a single cubic yard of 'empty' space is enough to boil all the oceans of the world. "[5]
While we don't want to boil all the oceans, we have found that, when we learn to "plug in" to this universal supply, and color it with our love through prayer, then so-called miracles can occur.
Prayer - The Song of Love
Prayer is one powerful way to use this infinite source of energy. Prayer is a universal language; the common language of that universal religion - spirituality - of which we are all, by our very nature, members. Prayer transcends words, language barriers
and different religious beliefs. Prayer is also a spiritual science. When we pray, we are not just saying words, but are also reaching deep within us. We are forming a connection with that spark of the Creator that resides there. Like the Sun, our souls wants to pour forth
light, love and healing to all and prayer enables us to do this.
Prayer energy - love energy - spiritual energy - what we call it does not matter; is a power just as real as electricity and far more important. It is a power that we can channel from the infinite, universal supply of the Creator -- God. Through our
intentional prayers, we automatically channel this power.
When the spiritual energy of love is released through prayer it goes to a particular person or situation. How it is directed depends upon a number of factors including the words of our prayers, i.e. if we direct it to the victims of a particular
earthquake it will go there. Our level of concentration, intensity and ability to radiate love all assist in the effectiveness of our prayers. Prayer is something that we all can use; but like anything else with practice our prayer ability will improve.[6]
When prayer reaches its destination as a beam of love colored by the words and motive of the pray-er its nature is to bring balance and harmony, in the same way as healing does. It gives people extra power to heal themselves, help themselves, inspire
themselves and motivate themselves. The energy of prayer nurtures and heals. Our prayers can mean the difference between life and death.
If we hear on the news that there is a war breaking out somewhere in the world and that peace talks are about to begin, we may feel inspired to send prayers to the peacemakers. Prayer can be especially useful if used strategically. As the outcome of the
war will depend to a large extent on the decisions of the peacemakers it is a good idea to do this.
We should never ask in our prayers that other people's minds are changed in any way. We should phrase your prayers in such a way that light, strength and healing goes out to the peacemakers, in order that they may be guided by their higher selves to make
the right decision.
Another secret of success with intentional prayers is to give them everything we have and then detach and carry on with our everyday life. By giving all our concentration, faith, love, reverence and focus to our prayers, then detaching from the results,
we are virtually handing them over to God. Detachment gives our prayers wings to fly to their destination in order to perform God's magic.
Oh mighty God
I offer my heartfelt prayer in thankfulness to you,
And ask that I may be a channel for your peace and love
So that this may flow through me now to all life.
To humanity, in all its diversity of race and creed
People, plants, animals and even the rocks beneath our feet
So that we may know we are One planetary family
Dwelling within Thy Great Heart.
On wondrous Parabrahma
May your divine and infinite power flow now -
At this very moment - in an everlasting stream of light
To bring peace and freedom to our world.
Oh, Eternal Creator, Provider and Sustainer of All Life.
Great Peace, Great Peace, Great Peace
May Thy will be done.
